When you need to be together.

Big, open gathering spaces.  Here, the kitchen eating and family areas are al interconnected.  No one away cooking while the rest of the family is having fun.  

The Great Room is the heart of the house.  No one is left out of the family time together.  If someone is cooking they are still with everyone enjoying a show or game or just talking.  Also, little ones can play and still be under a parent's eye.

But families members need their own time as well.  Here, the bedrooms are physically right next to each other  But, by simply moving the doorways to the bedrooms will feel further apart.  Almost different parts of the house.

When you need to be apart

The bedrooms here look like they're right next to each other.  But by simply separating the entrances to the master bedroom and the other two bedrooms, the sleeping areas feel like they are miles apart.  Great for families with children who are a little older.

 

But close enough for little ones!

Privacy

When you need to be keep them safe

The Kitchen is the most dangerous room in most houses.  By keeping travel patterns such that they avoid passing through the kitchen to get somewhere else, you reduce the risk to everyone.  Especially children.
